Logic slashes Internet rates

Internet Service Provider Logic Communications has slashed its prices for unlimited dial-up and DSL service.

Effective today the ISP will halve the cost of unlimited dial-up service to $19.95.

The price for higher speed broadband DSL service with a 128k port will drop to $29.99 for unlimited access for uploads and downloads with the price increasing to $69.95 and $139.99 for 256k and 512k respectively.

Logic is hardly the first ISP to reduce prices for its Internet services in recent months, but CEO Jeff Hamill says that their prices will now be the lowest in Bermuda.

He says the cuts were not just about competition, but also about realising how local consumers felt about his industry. A year ago his company enacted focus groups mystery shopping and consumer research to find out what the market really expected.

?We knew we needed to get somewhere as it related to price and we just needed to understand what the market really expected and so a year ago we enacted focus groups, consumer research and mystery shopping.

?We?ve had people go into every Internet Service Provider on the island, sign up for them all. We did the same with the long distance providers. We have a very clear idea about how the consumer market feels about the telecommunications industry in Bermuda in general and it was significantly negative.?

Logic will change all existing plans to the new rates automatically. Existing customers will see the rate change reflected on the December statement.
