Thief steals phone from charity's van

The damage to the Azmobile

The founder of an asthma charity has hit out at thieves who smashed their way into the group's vehicle to steal a cell phone.

Liz Boden said she was furious by the attack on the "Azmobile" which transports Open Airways volunteers to give awareness-raising talks on the condition at schools and organisations across Bermuda.

Mrs. Boden returned to her vehicle near the Mid Atlantic Wellness Institute to find the driver's window shattered and her blue Nokia phone taken.

"I am so upset," said Mrs. Boden. "I feel sickened to think anyone would do this to any vehicle, but particularly to a van owned by a charity working so hard to help children with asthma."

The incident happened between 6 and 6.50 p.m. while the Azmobile was parked in Devon Spring Road, Devonshire.

Police say they are investigating the incident. Witnesses or anyone with information should telephone Police on 295-0011 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 1-800-623-8477.
