Toddler injured on auto cycle

A three-year-old boy was last night fighting for his life in hospital following a horrific accident on a motorised child’s cycle.

The youngster was in a critical condition in King Edward VII Memorial Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit, where his worried father has been keeping a vigil at his bedside. He was last night said to be stable and improving.

Police say the boy suffered serious head injuries when he lost control of the vehicle and collided with a wall. His 28-year-old father, from St. George’s, had been teaching him how to ride the bike in a field in the area of Westcott Road, St. George’s, at about 6 p.m. on Monday.

Officers impounded the vehicle and inquiries into the incident are underway.
