Police have arrested three men in connection with the assault of a 26-year old Smith's parish man at a Flatts barbershop on Friday afternoon, as well as recovered the vehicle allegedly used by the suspects to make their escape.

A court appearance is anticipated in due course.

Car overturned in Flatts

At 5.50 Sunday morning, Police attended a reported single vehicle damage only road traffic collision on North Shore Road in Smith's parish, in Flatts Village.

It appears the car was travelling east on North Shore Road when the driver, a 20-year old Pembroke man, lost control and collided with a wall causing the vehicle to overturn.

The Pembroke man was not injured, however, the car received extensive damage to its roof. A nearby parked car also received minor damage from flying debris.

At 5.40 p.m. on Saturday, Police attended a reported single vehicle damage only road traffic collision on North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish near the junction with Panorama Drive.

It appears the car was travelling west on North Shore Road when the driver, a 37-year old St. George's man, lost control and collided with a wall.

The St. George's man was not injured, however, he was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and arrested after failing the alco-analyser test.

The vehicle received extensive front end damage.

Fuel prices drop

Gas prices were cut from Monday, November 17, the Ministry of Finance has announced.

The new maximum price at the pump for gasoline is now $1.66 per litre compared to $1.75 before.

In addition, diesel is down to $1.59 from $1.65 and kerosene dropped to $1.32 from $1.57.

The changes are the result of a dramatic slide in the price of oil over the last few months.

Through most of September and October, the maximum price of gas stood at $2.03 per litre.

Cyclist collides with minibus

The rider of an auxiliary motorcycle was injured when he collided with a minibus he was trying to overtake.

Police attended the accident, on Middle Road, in Warwick near the Warwick Bowling Alley, at 8.20 p.m. on Thursday.

It appears that both the minibus and the cycle were travelling west on Middle Road, with the minibus in front of the cycle.

Police said it appeared that as the minibus turned into the bowling alley parking area the cycle rider tried to overtake, resulting in them colliding.

The rider of the cycle, a 37-year-old man, sustained a shoulder injury. He was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment and later released.

The driver of the mini-bus, a 57-year-old Southampton man, was not injured.

Guesthouse burglarised

A visitor to the Island had his backpack containing money and personal items stolen from his room.

Police attended a Sandys parish guesthouse where the visitor said that between 6.30 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Wednesday, someone went into his room while it was empty and stole a purple backpack containing cash and personal items.

In another incident, at about 8.30 p.m. on Thursday Police went to a Smith's parish home where the complainant said her house had been burgled.

The Harrington Sound Road resident said that sometime between 8 a.m. and 7.50 p.m. that day, someone broke into her home and stole jewellery.
