Oleander carrying 177 containers

Shipping vessel the Oleander arrived in the Island from Port Elizabeth, New Jersey, on Sunday carrying 177 containers, 52 of which were refrigerated.

Five trailers and nine cars were also among the cargo. It sailed from Bermuda yesterday morning.

The Somers Isle>disembarked from Fernandina beach Florida, on Monday afternoon with 183 containers, including seven refrigerated, plus one 22-foot boat, three trucks, an office trailer and a steel tank. It will sail out of the Island this morning.

Bermuda Islander, from Salem, New Jersey, is expected to arrive tomorrow morning in Hamilton, lugging 136 containers, including 33 refrigerated. It will sail out the following morning.

Cruise ships Norwegian Spirit, Azamara Journey and the Empress of The Seas pulled into Bermuda on Monday.

The Crown and Majesty was scheduled to reach St. George’s yesterday, with the Grandeur of the Seas cruising into Dockyard as wellThe LPG Propane Gas Carrier was to arrive at the oil docks in St. George’s, yesterday afternoon. Tomorrow, the Fayal Cement ship will haul in roughly 3,300 tons of cement.

Figures on passengers and crewmembers of the ships were not available by the relevant agencies.

Charter Sailing Vessel Rising Son II contacted Bermuda Radio last Wednesday, via cell phone, after it struck an underwater object off of St. David’s Head and started taking on water with 78 people on board. Bermuda Radio contacted Bermuda Marine Police who attended in Heron III and the sailing vessel was able to secure itself at Ordnance Island, with the assistance of dewatering pumps from Bermuda Yacht Services.
