Hamilton played host to a right royal children’s reading festival that had a connection to the coronation of King Charles III.

Crowns and tiaras were the order of the day as youngsters were encouraged to enjoy the Victoria Park event dressed as their favourite king, queen, prince or princess character.

Storytelling featured at the gathering along with a reader’s village, a creative arts station and fun castles.

Children up to the age of 14 were given a free book and popcorn at the event, which aimed to highlight the benefits of reading.

The annual Children's Reading Festival was billed as “the royal edition” as it was held on the public holiday marking the crowning of King Charles III.
