For pets' sake, get your animal photos in

DO you think your pet is unique, quirky, funny-looking or photogenic enough for a calendar? If so, it’s time to start snapping those candid shots for the third annual SPCA calendar pet photo competition.

The contest, which closes on July 1, is open to anyone interested in submitting eye-catching photos of their loveable pets or any animal including rabbits, horses, pigs, iguanas and birds.

Entrants will be vying for the 12 spots of the monthly 2008 calendar and there is no limit to the number of photos each person can submit. However, a $5 entry fee is required for each photo.

All fees collected will go towards the production of the calendar which is sold to raise much-needed funds for the shelter. Last year, just under $4,000 was raised.

Entry forms can be requested via email from info@spca.bm, or can be picked up from Noah’s Ark, Animal & Garden House, Ettrick Animal Hospital, Endsmeet Animal Hospital and the SPCA Shelter on Valley Road.

Photographs must be digital, of horizontal layout and submitted on a CD and dropped off, along with the entry fee, in specially marked boxes at the same locations.

Contestants do not have to have been adopted from the SPCA and all submissions are welcome.

But past winning pets cannot appear two years running in the calendar and must be “local residents”.
