Hamilton garbage collection suspended for Bermuda Day

A spokeswoman for the Corporation of Hamilton warned that the last garbage collection for businesses this week will be today at 5pm, while residential garbage collection will continue as normal that day.

There will be no waste collection at all tomorrow. The normal schedule will resume on Monday.

The spokeswoman reminded the public to put trash in designated collection areas or wheelie bins and not to put trash out on days when there is no scheduled collection.

Several roads will also be closed on Friday for the Sinclair Packwood Memorial Cycle Race and the Junior Classic, as well as for the Bermuda Day Parade.

Closures and parking bans across the city will start at 6am and end at 1pm.

Any cars left in no parking areas will be towed as they pose a safety hazard to the cycle race.

Police will close off streets and portions of streets, redirect traffic and authorise parking.

A full list of closed roads and parking spaces can be found here.

The Ministry of Public Works also suspended garbage collection for the Bermuda Day Holiday, moving Friday waste collection to Saturday.

A ministry spokesman said that the Tynes Bay Public Drop-off would be open from 9am to noon on Friday. It offers free waste disposal to private vehicles.

The drop-off accepts all household waste, small metal waste, wooden items, recyclables, waste paint, used motor oil and batteries.
