Water gushes from manhole at airport
Water poured out of a manhole, causing the cover to shift, at LF Wade International Airport after heavy rains on Friday.
A spokeswoman for Skyport, the company managing the airport, said that a day of stormy weather overwhelmed the drainage system.
She added that despite the intensity of the flooding, no damage was reported.
The spokeswoman said: “On Friday, heavy rains caused stormwater drains at the LF Wade International Airport to overflow, causing flooding and a manhole cover to rise at the curb near the new terminal entrance.
“The stormwater drainage system was inspected and returned to service and no damage was reported.”
Videos of the flooding made the rounds on social media over the weekend, with the flooding causing concern for many bystanders and other members of the public.
Videos showed rainwater leaking from the outer walls of the terminal’s front entrance, as well as water pouring out of the storm drain.
