Shares of Butterfield Bank Ltd. climbed to a 52-week high yesterday, helping The Royal Gazette / Bermuda Stock Exchange Index to end the week on a positive note.

The Index closed up 26.65 points (0.52 percent) on 5,150.22 on a day when volume totalled 6,953 shares and turnover was $372,473.

Butterfield Bank rose 50 cents (0.8 percent) to close the day on $60.50 after 6,005 shares sold.

The only other issue to trade was Bermuda Commercial Bank Ltd., which was unchanged on $10.50, on the trading of 948 shares. Meanwhile the BSX Insurance Index fell slightly, losing 1.31 points (0.1 percent) to close yesterday on 1,332.04.
