BSX nears high

The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index (BSX) jumped almost 40 points to inch to within a point of its all-time high last week.

Starting on Monday at 5,150.22, the Index leapt to 5,187.80, by a total of 37.58 points (0.73 percent) despite a slight downturn in trading on Tuesday. 15,635 shares were traded.

Of the listed companies, Butterfield Bank experienced the biggest rise of $1, climbing from $60.50 to $61.50, trading 7,380 shares in the process.

Argus Group Holdings and Bermuda Aviation Services Ltd. both increased by 25 cents to finish on $15.50 and $6.50 resepctively, with Argus 751 Argus shares changing hands and 4,000 Bermuda Aviation trading 4,000.

The one company to suffer was Belco Holdings Ltd., which saw a loss of $1.45 in the value of their share price, going down from $21.70 to $20.25. It traded 2,293 shares.

The BSX Insurance Index similarly rose to 1,336.45, up from 1332.04, representing an increase of 0.33 percent.
