Yussuf Migoko of Jamaica made it a hat-trick of titles in the Argus Open at the weekend.Yussuf defeated David Thomas in the men's open singles in a battle that thrilled the fans, especially the first set that was decided by a tight tiebreak. The second was easier for Yussuf who took the match 7-6(5) 6-2.Thomas had upset Gavin Manders, 6-3 6-1, in the semi-finals on Friday but the final against Yussuf was a different proposition altogether.

Yussuf defeated David Thomas in the men’s open singles in a battle that thrilled the fans, especially the first set that was decided by a tight tiebreak. The second was easier for Yussuf who took the match 7-6(5) 6-2.

Thomas had upset Gavin Manders, 6-3 6-1, in the semi-finals on Friday but the final against Yussuf was a different proposition altogether.

Yussuf then partnered with Davis Cup team-mate Tyler Chin to take the doubles by defeating MacKenzie Bean and David Thomas 6-2 7-6 (7-4).

He then partnered with Fed Cup Jamaican player Tinesta Rowe, for his third win, in the mixed ppen finals where they defeated Gavin Manders and Sasha Fisher 6-4, 6-2.

Tinesta also took the Open Singles title by beating Sasha Fisher in straight sets 6-2 6-0.

However, Fisher did not go home empty handed as she and her sister Kara defeated the team of Cayla Cross and Jacklyn Lambert 6-1 7-6(1) for the ladies open doubles title.

In the B events, Charmaine Thomas, who had taken out Gil Butterfield in the semi-finals 6-1 6-1 could not repeat the feat in the finals. Young and talented Catherine Cooke defeated her in a long contest to win 7-5 6-4.

In the mens B final, Justin Frank made his winning return to tennis by beating veteran Kirk Saunders 7-6(3) 6-3.
