Southampton woman driver hurt

A Southampton woman lost control of her car on a bend near Turtle Bay Lane on South Road, Southampton colliding with another coming in the opposite direction.

The accident occurred around 8 p.m. Tuesday night and Police said a blue Chevrolet was travelling north on South Road and a silver Volkswagen in the opposite direction.

The 52-year-old driver of the Chevrolet lost control of her car and drove into the opposite lane colliding with the Volkswagen.

The Southampton woman was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital with bruises, cuts and abrasions and was later released. The driver of the Volkswagen, a 52 year old Sandys parish man, sustained a cut to his right arm and swelling to his leg. He was advised to seek medical attention for his injuries.

Both vehicles received extensive front end damage. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Meanwhile, cash was stolen from a house on East Shore Lane, Sandys home on Monday night.

Police reported to the residence at 11 p.m. were the complainants stated that some time between 7.10 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Monday an unknown culprit entered their home and stole a quantity of cash. Inquiries into the incident are underway.

On Tuesday, which was a public holiday for Dame Lois Browne Evans, there were seven reported burglaries, one in Smiths, two in Devonshire, two in Pembroke, one in Southampton and one in Sandys. Police also reported ten damage-only road traffic collisions, seven reported traffic accidents resulting in injury and 10 auxiliary/motorcycles stolen.
