Police ID parade enters video age

Creating a line-up parade of suspects will get a little bit easier this week as the Police introduce a video database of images for witnesses.
PROMAT Video Identification draws from a database of 22,000 volunteer images, 470 of which are local Bermudians to create a line-up for the Bermuda Police Service.
It will be formally introduced by the Police on August 1 and a spokesman said last night the PROMAT system would offer an additional method for witnesses to identify suspects.
"This will drastically improve the time taken to organise such a procedure and save Police resources in trying to organise a line-up parade," the spokesperson added.
