Jehovah's Witnesses hold convention
Jehovah’s Witnesses are currently holding their ‘Follow the Christ!’ district convention, following a three-week drive to invite as many as possible from the community to attend.
The convention’s chosen theme is based on the Witnesses’ belief that a person’s life will dramatically improve as a result of following Christ’s example, and also that when people model themselves after the Biblical pattern of Christ they become better spouses and parents.
In addition, youngsters will develop a positive relationship with their parents, teachers and elders.
The convention will afford opportunities to hear how others in the community have been affected by Christ’s example and teachings and, as a result, improved their family life, dealt with life’s difficulties, and drew closer to God.
Many local residents who studied the Bible will publicly symbolise their dedication to Jehovah God during a baptism ceremony today.
The Witnesses promise something of spiritual benefit to all who make the effort to attend.
Tomorrow’s public discourse will show from the Scriptures how to identify the real followers of Christ.
Programme sessions begin at 9.30 a.m.
