A security guard was attacked with a baseball bat at the Mid Atlantic Boat Club on Sunday.

The 42-year-old man, from Pembroke, said that at 10 p.m. a 23-year-old entered the club in North Shore Road but was asked to leave. An argument followed and the man left but returned 20 minutes later with two other men. He then assaulted the security guard.

A Police spokesman said: “During the assault, one of the assailants used a baseball bat to strike the security guard in the face.

“The suspects are known to the victim and inquiries into this incident are underway.”

The security guard was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of facial injuries but discharged yesterday morning.

Police arrested four motorists on suspicion of impaired driving at the weekend. There were eight reported burglaries; 20 road traffic accidents resulting in damage to vehicles; 13 resulting in injury; and ten vehicles stolen.
