John Weale, one of Bermuda’s senior rugby referees, has been appointed to North America & West Indies Rugby Association’s (NAWIRA) Caribbean Senior Championships which will be taking place in Grand Cayman between August 19-25. This tournament will involve the national teams of various Caribbean nations, including hosts Cayman, Trinidad, current champions Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, as well as Bermuda and Mexico.

Roy Harvey, director of match Officials for NAWIRA said: “This is a major event in NAWIRA’s calendar, that requires the most experienced and talented match officials available. John is amongst the best referees within NAWIRA, and was awarded the tournament final of last year’s Caribbean seven-a-side championships in Barbados”.

Weale has been refereeing in Bermuda since 1996 and has regularly officiated at the World Rugby Classic, as well as numerous international tournaments in North America and the West Indies.
