The Christmas Toys for Tots campaign is to be extended all-year round.

Angela Hanwell of Coldwell Banker Bermuda Realty said: “While our goal is still to collect new toys for less fortunate children in an attempt to provide them with a sense of Christmas joy, this campaign has matured and evolved so much that the generosity of the community will be used to support families throughout the year.

“Monetary donations towards the breakfast programme, education, gift vouchers to stores for school supplies, uniforms, toiletries, towels and linens are just a few examples of items we have collected this year, in addition to the toys.”

A total of 3,000 toys donated by the public were loaded yesterday into a truck outside the real estate agents offices on Par-la-Ville Road.

They were sent to the Coalition for the Protection of Children for distribution among youngsters up to the age of 16.

Ms Hanwell said: “We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the companies, schools and individuals who supported this programme, some of which have been with us since inception.”

The programme, which for the past 15 years has donated gifts to less fortunate children, has adopted a new policy to spread its activities across the calendar.

Ms Hanwell thanked drop-off locations the Annex Toys/Phoenix Kidz, Arnold’s Discount Warehouse, PriceRite, Gorham’s, Kit N Caboodle, People’s Pharmacy/Little People’s Toys and The Willow Stream Spa, as well as Joe Vieira Trucking, which provided toy boxes and the delivery sleigh.
