Public forum hailed a success
The Uptown Market Association’s first public forum was deemed a success.
About 50 people — residents and business owners— came out for the forum last Wednesday night facilitated by Dr. Michael Bradshaw.
The forum began with a lecture by Steve Simons, UMA Vice President discussing sustainability and cohesiveness being positive outcomes for the residents.
Kelly Miller, Hamilton Corporation Secretary began a discussion on the structure of the corporation and information on the upcoming election.
She explained the voter registration process and handed out information packets to assist the attendees.
Real estate was another topic with attendees voicing concern over the development of North Hamilton.
According to a press release, Local realtor, Larry Sticca placed emphasis on documentation and the hiring of unbiased professionals while Myron Simmons, partner in Lightbourne & Simmons, explained the legal matters.
The interim committee was also introduced.
The members include Irvin Hendrickson and Carlton Johnson — co-chairs — Rev. David Lambe, Tracy Marshall, Barbara Scott and Rose Ann Wales.
