Cash stolen from buses

Cash was stolen from four buses parked at the Beacon Hill Road, Sandy’s parish depot, according to the Police.

A spokesman said the crime was reported around 6.45 a.m. yesterday, with the complainant stating that an unknown culprit gained entry into the vehicles and took the money some time between 6 p.m on Wednesday and 6 a.m. on Thursday.

Police did not detail the amount of cash in question.

Dan Simmons, Director of the Department of Public Transport told The Royal Gazette that money is not meant to be left in buses overnight. He claimed that while the vehicles had been vandalised, he believed Police made an assumption that money was also taken. He added that any amount left on board was likely to be negligible.

Mr. Simmons said that while the damaged vehicles will be off the road for repairs for two to three days, ten new vehicles that have recently been delivered mean service will not be affected.
