Police found marijuana in man’s car

A man caught with marijuana in his car two years ago told a magistrate on Friday he no longer used the drug.

Seitu Okane Ford, 34, of Southampton Estate Road, Sandys, was discovered by Police with 9.49 grams of cannabis on April 29, 2005.

Officers stopped Ford’s car in Devonshire and found the drugs in a plastic twist in his trouser pocket and a plastic bag in the glove compartment of his car. Prosecutor Cindy Clarke said he told officers: “I just smoke weed but I do not sell.”

Ford pleaded guilty to possession of the drug at Magistrates’ Court. “It was two years ago,” he told Magistrate Juan Wolffe. “I have been married, I have a family now. A lot has changed. I have cleaned up my act.” He added that he no longer used the drug.

He was fined $500 and has until August 6 to pay.

Man trespassed at former wife’s home

A man who trespassed at his ex-wife’s home was given a 12-month conditional discharge at Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

Jon Eric Petty, 48, of Blue Hole Hill, Hamilton Parish, said he only went into the property on Ducks Puddle Drive on June 6 to collect some of his belongings.

Prosecutor Cindy Clarke told the court Petty came in through the door to his son’s bedroom and began to eat food from his son’s plate before Police were called.

Petty, who admitted trespassing, said: “I was coming to get my computer. It sort of escalated. My ex-wife and I don’t see eye to eye all the time. I guess that’s why she’s my ex-wife. I have no intention of going there again. If I need to speak to my son, I’ll deal with him directly. He’s 22. There is no reason why I should ever go there again.”

Magistrate Juan Wolffe told him: “Just don’t go back.”
