Bermuda Girl Guide Association marks 80th year at Lady Asser Hunt
Bermuda Girl Guide Association will be celebrating the 80th anniversary of its official headquarters in Bermuda, the Lady Asser Hut, on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m.
The celebration follows a $21,000 investment to revamp the Lady Asset Hut, which was deeded for the Girlguiding organisation in June 1927.
The roof and building have been painted, a new carpet added, and the building has been cleaned up extensively. On view at the open house on Saturday will be photos and memorabilia dating back to 1950 of guide and ranger camps, parades and events.
Agnes Waddicor, council member, Bermuda Girl Guide Association, says: “We welcome all past rangers, guides and brownies to come and view the memorabilia at the Lady Asser Hut this Saturday.
It will be a wonderful opportunity for those who were once associated with the Girlguiding movement to be nostalgic and relive their happy memories of their involvement.” Refreshments will be served and parking will be at Woodex on Woodbourne Avenue, courtesy of the Bank of Bermuda.
