A collision involving a bus and a truck caused traffic diversions yesterday afternoon, but did not result in any serious injuries.

A police spokesman said that at about 2.20pm yesterday officers received reports of a collision on Middle Road in Paget, near the junction with Chapel Road.

“It appears that a Department of Public Transportation bus was being driven in the westbound lane of Middle Road, when an unknown vehicle being driven in the opposite direction caused the bus driver to take evasive action and collide with a utility pole,” the spokesman said.

“Part of the utility pole then struck a truck, which was being driven behind the DPT bus. The DPT bus, utility pole and truck were damaged.

“However, there were no reported injuries.”

Officers at the scene diverted traffic onto Manse Road and Chapel Road while staff from Belco, Digicel and One Communications worked to address the damaged pole.

Traffic was returned to normal at about 4.45pm.

Anyone with information about the collision is encouraged to call Pc Conor Perkin on 211 or e-mail cperkin@bps.bm.
