The uniformed services held a final information session this week as part of a recruitment drive.

The third event in the series was at Francis Patton Primary School in Hamilton Parish and was attended by Michael Weeks, the Minister of National Security.

Bermuda’s five uniformed services are the Bermuda Police Service, the Royal Bermuda Regiment, the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service, the Customs Department and the Department of Corrections.

Mr Weeks said they offer career pathways that provide a service to the community, offer personal and professional growth, and leadership opportunities.

“Tonight is about possibilities. It's about realising that there are careers that offer stability, purpose and pride, and which are critical to keeping our community safe and strong,” Mr Weeks said.

“This is not just about preparing for a possibility — it’s about stepping forward into real, tangible opportunities.”

Mr Weeks highlighted an advertising campaign that included promotion on the back of public buses.

He added: “For young people, especially those graduating soon or returning from university, I urge you to think about the difference you could make, right here at home, in a career that offers not only a pay cheque but a true sense of belonging and purpose.

“For those of you at different stages of life who are seeking new direction or a more meaningful career, these services have a place for you as well.”

Recruitment is taking place now across the five services.

The Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service has a cohort of recruits completing their basic training in the next few weeks. It expects to begin hiring again during the summer.

The Customs Department is nearing completion of a recruitment drive and there are plans to advertise jobs again in July or August for a new group of recruits.

The Bermuda Police Service are preparing to launch their next recruitment drive in September or October, and the Department of Corrections is to begin recruitment efforts within the next few weeks.
