Man remanded after admitting assault and theft

A man will be sentenced in Magistrates’ Court for assault, theft and other charges next month.

Jamiko Bean, 43, admitted causing a woman bodily harm when he appeared in court yesterday.

Bean, from Devonshire, also pleaded guilty to stealing a wallet and a machete, damaging a door in Warwick and entering a dwelling in Paget without excuse.

He assaulted the woman in Paget on March 23 and committed the other offences six days later.

The stolen items belonged to John Mason — the wallet contained $300 in cash and the machete was of an unknown value — and the damaged door cost $1,000 to repair.

Magistrate Maria Sofianos ordered reports to be written for Bean, adjourned the case to June 12 for sentencing and remanded him in custody until that time.
