Fidelis names Peter Welton as head of specialty
The Fidelis Partnership has appointed industry veteran Peter Welton as its new head of speciality.
Mr Welton brings more than 20 years of experience in the specialty insurance market, most recently serving as chief underwriting officer for marine, energy and aerospace at Axa XL in Britain and Lloyd’s market. He previously held leadership roles at XL Catlin, including UK head of downstream energy and power generation.
In his new role, Mr Welton will report to John-Paul O’Hare, director of underwriting at the Bermudian-based firm. He will oversee TFP’s specialty business with a focus on aviation, space and energy insurance and reinsurance lines, including the company’s growing renewables portfolio.
“We’re delighted to welcome Peter aboard,” Mr O’Hare said. “At a time of increasing risk complexity and volatility, the need for nimble, innovative and high-conviction underwriting has never been more important. Peter’s impressive track record, his industry reputation and deep sector expertise will further enhance TFP’s underwriting leadership.”
Mr Welton said he was excited to join a company known for its entrepreneurial approach. “TFP’s reputation for pioneering leadership and creative underwriting showcase the specialty insurance market at its best,” he said. “This is a hugely exciting time to be stepping aboard.”
