Freemasons give $15,000 to charities
The charitable wing of the Freemasons recently donated a total of $15,000 to five groups.
The Bermuda Sanshou Association, WindReach, Pals, DailyMale clinic and Vision Bermuda each received $3,000 from the Freemasons Fund for Bermuda.
Each Masonic lodge on the island raised the funds through individual donations as well as events.
Chris Swan, president of the Freemasons Fund, presented letters of recognition and charitable intent to the organisations last week to acknowledge the donations.
The Bermuda Sanshou Association supports Bermudian athletes and coaches competing in Chinese martial arts.
Association president Garon Wilkinson acknowledged the group’s support from the Government as well as the Olympic Association but said it was “really thankful for this wholehearted donation”.
Jade Robinson, cofounder of DailyMale, said: “We identified the inequalities of men’s health and awareness, in particular with prostate cancer, and wanted to create an initiative to target that.”
Erica Ingemann, the executive director of Vision Bermuda, said the funds will be “used towards improving and continuing our vision rehabilitation services”.
Julie Harrington, clinical nurse manager at Pals, and Kate Terceira, executive director of WindReach, also thanked the Freemasons Fund for the donations.
