Nahki Wells’s hopes of being retained by Bristol City appear to have received a boost as the Bermuda striker negotiates a new deal with the Sky Bet Championship outfit.

The 34-year-old is out of contract this summer and is among four players, including Lewis Thomas, Olly Thomas, Joe Duncan and Raphael Araoye, who are actively involved in talks over having their stay at Ashton Gate extended.

City have already confirmed that eight players will be leaving the club this summer following the expiration of their contracts at Ashton Gate, while on loan attacking midfielder George Earthy will be returning to parent club West Ham United.

Parting ways with the club are Stefan Bajic, Ayman Benarous, Kal Naismith, Kai Churchley, Tim Ap Sion, Marley Rose, Romani Rowe and Callum Wood.

Wells, who has expressed his desire to remain at Ashton Gate, scored ten goals and provided four assists in 39 league appearances in the Sky Bet Championship this season, with City making it to the play-off semi finals before being eliminated by Sheffield United.

He is one of the longest-serving players in Liam Manning's side, having made 237 appearances and scored 48 goals for City since joining from Burnley in 2020.

While Wells’s future remains uncertain, Bermuda team-mate Reggie Lambe has been retained by English non-league side Needham Market after agreeing to a new deal.

The 34-year-old midfielder joined the club from National League outfit Braintree Town last September and went on to score four goals in 40 appearances with his new team, who were relegated from the Vanarama National League North after finishing 21st.

Lambe has played for a hosts of teams throughout his career, including Ipswich Town, Toronto FC, Carlisle United, Mansfield Town and Cambridge United.
