This is not the Unfinished Church ‒ please get it done
Dear Sir,
We are regular visitors to your beautiful island. One of the pleasures each visit is to walk stretches of the Railway Trail. It is truly a treasure of the island, enjoyed by Bermudians and visitors alike.
We watched with delight as new walkways and then the magnificent Bailey’s Bay footbridge appeared, and were grateful to everyone who made them possible. And we watched in awe as the magnificent new Flatts bridge was constructed. We looked forward to the day we could see that most beautiful stretch of sea and land in a new and exciting way.
We visited the island in 2022 and again in 2023. Each time we hoped to be able to walk across that wonderful new bridge. Each time we were disappointed, and each time we instead had to negotiate the narrow, dangerous roads into and out of Flatts to complete our trail walk.
We returned last week and were disappointed yet again. We could find no information about the closure, just piles of abandoned construction materials.
Please, please, please, Government of Bermuda, sort this out and give Bermudians and visitors the stunning bridge that Flatts so richly deserves.
