Carey Olsen names Bermudian Alexander Collis to partnership
Carey Olsen has promoted Alexander Collis, a Bermudian lawyer, to its partnership, effective July 1.
Mr Collis, part of Carey Olsen’s Bermuda corporate and finance team, advises on complex corporate, finance and regulatory transactions across various sectors, with a strong focus on insurance, corporate tax and economic substance legislation.
Michael Hanson, group managing partner and head of the Bermuda office, was quick to praise the new partner’s contributions: “Alex is an exceptional lawyer and a fantastic colleague.
“When Carey Olsen first expanded into Bermuda, our initial five‑year strategy identified a number of Bermudian lawyers we wanted to bring home and join the firm, one of whom was Alex.”
Mr Collis expressed gratitude for the recognition and optimism for his future role: “I am very proud to have been promoted to the Carey Olsen partnership.
“Since joining the firm, I have had the pleasure of working with an incredibly talented team who work exceptionally hard to deliver the best possible service for our clients. As a new partner, I look forward to contributing to the firm's continued growth and success.”
His promotion increases Carey Olsen’s partnership to 87, with nearly 400 fee-earners across key jurisdictions globally.
Joining Mr Collis are Graham Stoute (trusts and private wealth, Cayman Islands), Dhanshuklal Vekaria (litigation, Hong Kong), Katherine Tresca (corporate, Jersey), Matthew Ecobichon (corporate, Jersey) and Nick Ghazi (corporate, Jersey), all effective July 1.
