Sexual assault and burglary trial begins

The trial of a man charged with burglary and sexual assault began in Supreme Court yesterday.

The defendant, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, denied allegations that he broke into a house in Devonshire on November 24 last year with the intention of committing a sexual assault.

The man, from Pembroke, also denied two charges of sex assaults on two women — who also cannot be identified — on the same night.

The trial, before Acting Puisne Judge Juan Wolffe, started with jury selection.

The jury is expected to hear the first evidence in the case this week.
