Sir John Swan celebrates 90th birthday on City Hall grounds
Bermuda’s only living National Hero marked his 90th birthday on Saturday by the steps of City Hall.
Sir John Swan was treated to several performances during a public event that served as a celebration of a hero and of local talent.
He was serenaded by the Tino Martinez Quartet and witnessed a lively performance from Gombeys.
Sir John was further treated to heartfelt tributes and presented with a celebratory portrait.
The birthday party was held as part of the Creatives Live! series in a partnership between the Department of Culture and the City of Hamilton.
Owen Darrell, the Minister of Tourism, Transport, Culture and Sport, said: “Sir John Swan’s career reflects years of public service and involvement in shaping Bermuda’s path.
“As he marks this milestone birthday, we acknowledge his contributions to the island’s development and the role he has played in public life.”
