Aspen makes John Welch group chief underwriting officer

Aspen Insurance has appointed John Welch as group chief underwriting officer.

He has more than 30 years of experience in executive roles across global players including at Axa XL and XL Catlin, joining Aspen as chief underwriting officer, reinsurance, two years ago.

Starting August 1, he will report to Christian Dunleavy, Aspen Bermuda’s group president and chief executive, and will be responsible for the oversight, development and execution of Aspen’s underwriting strategy across the group.

Mr Dunleavy said the promotion reflected Mr Welch’s broad expertise and further strengthened Aspen’s underwriting and leadership capabilities.
