Digicel Cup Match data usage soars
Data usage on Digicel’s 5G+ network increased eightfold at Cup Match, year-over-year, according to the company.
Digicel said: “The island’s newest and fastest mobile network didn’t just meet expectations, but exceeded them.
“At the St George’s Cricket Club, 88 per cent of all mobile usage flowed through Digicel’s 5G+ network, a powerful indication that customers are loving the speed, reliability and seamless experience it delivers.”
The company said Cup Match fans were live-streaming the match, facetiming family overseas and posting to social media from the Crown and Anchor tent as Digicel 5G+ kept them connected in real time, without delay, buffering or dropouts.
Meredith Sharples, chief executive of Digicel Bermuda, commented that by boosting network capacity at the venue, Digicel ensured that stellar play, every celebration and every important moment could be shared instantly.
He said: “Our customers expect the best, and they deserve nothing less. That’s why we’ve built a 5G+ network that’s not just fast and reliable, but truly made for Bermuda.
“We’re passionate about keeping our customers connected and continue to raise the bar for what’s possible at special events on the island.”
The launch of Digicel 5G+ also came with a new suite of postpaid plans, he said, built to give customers even more value and flexibility.
He added: “We know Bermudians love using data, and that’s why we’ve launched new postpaid bundles with unlimited data, unlimited talk and roaming data included.”
“With Digicel, new and existing customers now have the freedom to use our 5G+ network to the fullest. And the best smartphones are always on us.”
