US resident charged with fentanyl importation plot

A Michigan man was accused this morning of conspiring to import fentanyl and other drugs into the country.

Michael Jackson, 59, from Detroit, was charged with conspiring with others to import fentanyl, cannabis and THC into the island between an unknown date and July 18.

Mr Jackson was further charged with possessing the proceeds of criminal activity.

He was not required to enter a plea to the charges, as the matter is set to be heard by the Supreme Court.

Mr Jackson was remanded into custody until September 2, when the matter will be mentioned in the higher court.
