BUEI to feature stingrays at children’s event
The “special world of stingrays” will be featured at a children’s event at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute tomorrow.
Kids Hour at BUEI, sponsored by BF&M, is held on the third Saturday of each month from January to September.
Each occasion has a different ocean-themed topic, with short film, book reading and fun activities for children aged 3 and up.
The event runs at 11am and 2pm.
The BUEI will screen Stingray City in which Jonathan Bird, an American photographer, and Guy Harvey, a world-renowned marine artist, visit the famous locale in Grand Cayman.
Viewers will discover how stingrays interact with tourists and learn about Dr Harvey’s research.
The book Let’s Talk About Stingrays by Kenzy Ruth will be featured.
In it, Seama the Stingray busts myths and shares fun facts about the fish. The BUEI called it the perfect introduction to the “misunderstood marine animals”.
Admission to the Ocean Discovery Centre is included for participants to explore and play the BUEI’s I-Spy game where they can win a prize if they manage to find all the hidden stingray stickers.
Kids Hour Saturdays are free for BUEI members and $5 per child for non-members. There is no charge for adults attending with their children.
Parents and caregivers are urged to remain on-site.
Spaces are limited and advance registration is encouraged by e-mailing giftshop@buei.bm or by calling 294-0204.
