AIG appoints Scott Hallworth to spearhead GenAI strategy
American International Group, which has deep ties to Bermuda’s insurance sector, has named Scott Hallworth as its new chief digital officer, effective September 1.
He will oversee the global insurer’s digital, data and generative artificial intelligence strategy as part of its push to modernise and scale technology across the enterprise.
Mr Hallworth will initially report to Claude Wade, AIG’s executive vice-president and global head of business operations and claims, before assuming full responsibilities and reporting directly in the new year to Peter Zaffino, chairman and chief executive.
Mr Wade will transition to an advisory role to address health issues, the company said.
“Scott Hallworth brings a deep, technical background in digital, GenAI and actuarial capabilities to AIG,” Mr Zaffino said. “His track record of bringing GenAI to market and scaling across complex organisations makes him exceptionally well qualified to join AIG at this exciting time.”
Mr Hallworth is a former chief data officer at Hewlett Packard and Capital One, and previously served as chief actuary at Travelers Insurance.
He is known for his expertise in deploying GenAI and enterprise data solutions at scale.
“I am honoured to join AIG and to work with Peter Zaffino and his leadership team to accelerate this next chapter of growth for the company,” Mr Hallworth said. “I am excited to collaborate with the team to leverage the continuous advancements in GenAI to drive innovation and impact at scale.”
