Bermuda consumers now have direct access to one of the world’s fastest-growing technology brands.

Xiaomi, the Chinese electronics giant known for its affordable yet high-end smartphones and smart devices, officially entered the Bermuda market this week through an exclusive partnership with local telecommunications provider LiveNet.

The move brings more choice and price competition to the island, where residents have often had to import devices directly, according to LiveNet.

“Xiaomi’s global reputation for innovation and value makes it a perfect fit for Bermuda,” Troy Symonds, the chief executive of LiveNet, said.

“By partnering with Xiaomi, LiveNet is bringing world-class technology closer to home, giving residents and businesses more ways to stay connected, productive and inspired.”

The first model on sale is the Redmi Note 14S, which features a 200-megapixel AI-powered camera, a 6.67-inch AMOLED display and a long-lasting fast-charging battery.

LiveNet said the device, which rivals premium smartphones at a fraction of the cost, was available free with select mobile plans.

The company confirmed the launch was the start of a broader roll-out, with additional Xiaomi smartphones, smart devices and connected products expected in the coming months.
