Police have received reports of WhatsApp video calls being made where people claim to represent the Bermuda Police Service.

The BPS said that the numbers linked to the scam began with the international country code for Pakistan.

It explained: “The Bermuda Police Service has received reports of persons receiving WhatsApp video calls from individuals claiming to represent the BPS.

“So far, the calls are being made from telephone numbers: +92 343 4087943, +92 349 9513663, +92 322 4135776.

“These numbers show up with a BPS crest as the caller’s WhatsApp display picture. +92, is the international country code for Pakistan.

“Bermuda’s international country code is, of course, +441.

“Should you accept WhatsApp video calls, or any other calls, from the numbers shown or similar and the caller claims to be from the Bermuda Police Service, we advise that you immediately hang up and do not provide any information if requested.”
