Drugs, weapon found in bike seat

Police seized a machete and controlled drugs that fell out of a bike seat yesterday.

A spokesman said officers saw two males on a bike wearing black clothing and helmets on Middle Road in Warwick.

Police ordered the juveniles to stay where they were, but the rider tried to turn the bike around and lost control.

This caused the bike seat to pop open and several items, including the weapon and drugs, to fall out.

Officers detained the two under Section 315f of the Criminal Code before they could leave the scene.

The spokesman added: “Upon checking the chassis number, it was discovered the bike had previously been reported stolen, was unlicensed, uninsured and was fitted with false licence plates.

“Further checks revealed the rider was disqualified from having a motorcycle licence because he was underage.”

The suspects were arrested and bailed to juvenile court.
