The body of a man who was reported missing yesterday was discovered in water off Pembroke this morning, police said.

Search teams were already working in the area near Ducking Stool Park after the alarm was raised yesterday afternoon.

The Bermuda Police Service said that shortly after 7am today, they were alerted to a body floating in the water.

“Police officers along with members of the Royal Bermuda Regiment Coastguard were in the area engaged in a search of the coastline and attended the location where the body was found,” the BPS added.

“The body was recovered and identified as that of the male who was reported missing when he did not resurface after entering water in that area, shortly before 5pm yesterday.”

The body was taken via a coastguard vessel to Albuoy’s Point, where an on-call doctor attended and certified the man’s death.

Police said that an autopsy is expected to be carried out.
