Bermuda’s Spencer Moss has been picked by the World Squash officiating committee to referee at one of the sport’s most prestigious events — the United States Open Squash Championships, taking place in Philadelphia from October 19 to 25.

Micah Franklin, the head of squash at the Bermuda Squash Association, believes that Moss’s appointment appointment marks a historic moment as he becomes the first Bermudian official to referee at this level of international squash.

“This is a tremendous honour for Spencer and for Bermuda,” Franklin said.

“His selection is not only a personal achievement but a reflection of the continued development of squash on the island.”

“As Bermuda’s highest qualified squash official, Moss’s appointment underscores the importance of investing in not only athletes, but also coaches and technical officials.

“His development has been supported through the Bermuda Squash Association’s Long-Term Athletic Development Programme, with valuable assistance from the Department of Sport and Recreation.

“Spencer’s success is a testament to the power of hard work, dedication and passion in turning dreams into reality.

“We hope his journey inspires the next generation of squash enthusiasts — both on and off the court.

“On behalf of the entire squash community in Bermuda, the Bermuda Squash Association extends its congratulations and best wishes to Spencer Moss as he prepares to represent the island at the US Open.”
