Students from schools across the island shared creative ideas this month on how to make Bermuda more exciting and engaging for young people.

The feedback came at “Zone In” sessions held by the Office of Youth Affairs from October 8 to 17.

Students from the Whitney Institute, Chatmore British International School, the Bermuda High School for Girls, CedarBridge Academy and Dellwood Middle School also got an opportunity to learn about the goals of the National Youth Policy.

Tinée Furbert, the Minister of Youth, Social Development and Seniors, said: “It is truly inspiring to see Bermuda’s young people so deeply involved in shaping conversations about their future.

“Their insights are invaluable as we continue to strengthen policies and programmes that reflect their needs, aspirations, and voices.”

A spokeswoman said two policy goals were most frequently identified as top priorities: safety, and measures to promote active and healthy lifestyles for young people — with particular emphasis on mental health.

The sessions proved “invaluable,” the spokeswoman said, as they offered “meaningful insight into the priorities of Bermuda’s young people”.
