Docosoft, an insurance and reinsurance claims technology provider, has partnered with the Bermuda Foundation for Insurance Studies to launch the inaugural Future Claims Bermuda event, held today at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute.

The event, which aimed to celebrate and strengthen Bermuda’s growing claims community, included the presentation of a new Docosoft-funded bursary to BFIS that will support two Bermudian students, one male and one female, pursuing careers in claims.

The programme brought together senior industry leaders, rising professionals and students to discuss how technology, innovation and collaboration are shaping the future of claims handling in the global insurance and reinsurance industry. Kim Wilkerson, Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, opened the event.

Notable speakers included Laura Pepper of RenaissanceRe, Ana Garcia-Ocampo and Keirra Smith of Convex Insurance, Chen Foley of Arcadian Risk Capital, Sarah Champion of Chubb and Victoria Cunningham of BFIS.

Aidan O’Neill, Docosoft chief executive, said the company was proud to support the island’s claims professionals and emerging talent.

“The [insurance and] reinsurance market stands or falls on the value of the claims service it delivers,” Mr O’Neill said. “Future Claims Bermuda is about raising awareness of the great work Bermuda’s claims professionals are doing and creating a space for dialogue, connection and inspiration.”

Ms Cunningham, BFIS executive director, added that the partnership underscores the shared goal of preparing young Bermudians for evolving industry roles.

“We’re grateful to Docosoft for helping to highlight the exciting career paths and emerging skills that will shape the future of our industry,” she said.

Panel discussions covered topics such as automation and artificial intelligence, catastrophe claims management, data-sharing and transparency, and featured a Future Leaders in Claims session for students and early-career professionals.

Headquartered in Dublin with offices in London, Tokyo and Bermuda, Docosoft provides claims management and automation technology to many of the world’s leading insurers and reinsurers.

BFIS plays a key role in developing local talent through scholarships, mentoring and internships in Bermuda’s international business sector.
