Insurance executives from Bermuda recently attended the Insurance Technology Conference 2025 in Las Vegas to highlight the island’s insurance innovation, insurtech and regulatory leadership.

Bermuda Business Development Agency representatives and key public and private-sector individuals from the industry attended, including those from the Bermuda Monetary Authority.

ITC Vegas is the world's largest gathering dedicated to insurance innovation. Organisers say it features over 500 influential minds from the industry.

Those attending the networking and educational event from Bermuda included executives from companies such as Meanwhile, CatX, Cactus and OnRe.

The BDA had exhibit space as a central location for the Bermuda delegates, who also came together to host a Bermuda reception.

In addition to being a sponsor at the conference, the BDA also participated in a series of discussions with investors, international partners and technology investors.

David Parker, head of business development at the BDA, commented: “As the world continues to adapt from legacy insurance approaches, moving towards a more digital world, our forward-looking and flexible regulatory sandbox environment allows us to stay one step ahead and create a welcoming home for further growth in the space.”

Tiffany Austin, assistant director, fintech, BMA joined regulators from Connecticut, New Mexico, and the Cayman Islands to discuss frameworks for artificial intelligence and sandbox innovation programmes.

Sharing insights into the unique structure of the BMA’s Sandbox, Ms Austin highlighted how Bermuda’s environment fosters responsible experimentation and organic growth in emerging technologies, positioning the island as a leader in balanced, forward-looking regulation.

Benedict Altier, president & COO, Cactus, commented: “ITC Vegas provided us the chance to meet face to face with key potential collaborators and partners at an exciting time for growth for our company and for the industry as a whole in Bermuda.

“Through establishing and growing our business on the island, we know that Bermuda offers an unmatched environment for Insurtech innovation, and we’re looking forward to continuing to build our business in the next phase of its evolution in our home territory.”
