Holiday toy drive returns to spread the Christmas spirit
The season of giving has begun with the return of the annual Toys for Tots drive to support children across the island.
Butterfield has again partnered with the Coalition for the Protection of Children on the toy drive, which will remain open until December 8.
Participants can donate new toys for children up to the age of 12, with gift cards for teenagers and vouchers for parents to use on clothing, groceries or utilities.
Donations can be dropped off at sites including Butterfield banking centres, Annex Toys at Phoenix, Arnold’s Discount Warehouse, Gorhams, Little People’s Pharmacy and PriceRite stores in Mill’s Creek and Warwick.
Donated items should be unwrapped so that the CPC can make sure the gifts go to appropriate recipients when they are distributed in mid-December.
Kelly Hunt, executive director of the CPC, said: “We are thrilled to partner with Butterfield as our Community Sponsor once again this year.
“The holidays can be an incredibly challenging time for families who are struggling to make ends meet. Toys for Tots aims to bring some extra joy and holiday spirit to support families who need our help.
“We wouldn’t be able to make this happen without the generous support of everyone involved and, of course, the exceptional kindness of the public.
“Philanthropy is a language best learnt early in life, so we are encouraging parents to get their children involved with this important initiative.
“Our goal is to reach 2,500 donated items so we implore you to give generously once again this year to ensure that no child has to go without this season.”
Jody Feldman, Butterfield’s managing director in Bermuda, added that the bank was delighted to again support Toys for Tots.
She said: “This initiative is a wonderful way for us all to come together and help the CPC in their mission to help others during the holiday season.
“I’m pleased to let everyone know that Butterfield is ready to receive unwrapped gift donations with collection boxes in each of our banking centres, and we encourage those who can to give generously.”
