Child pornography leads to jail for Devonshire man
A man who accessed child pornography was sentenced to two years behind bars this week, with half his term suspended.
Brian Bennett, 53, had admitted accessing two types of child pornography during an earlier appearance in Magistrates’ Court, after he initially denied the offences.
The court heard that Bennett, from Devonshire, committed the offences between December 2017 and March 2018.
Prosecutors did not proceed on an allegation that he accessed a third kind of child pornography.
Magistrate Auralee Cassidy ordered on Monday that half of Bennett’s prison sentence be suspended for one year.
She also ordered Bennett to complete one year of probation upon being released and be added to the sex offenders register.
