Santa comes to town for festive event in St George
An evening of gifts and goodwill is planned for December 13 in the Olde Towne at an event to be hosted by the Corporation of St George.
Children of all ages will have the chance to meet Santa, who is expected to arrive at King’s Square on a fire truck.
The special guest will be accompanied by a cast of fun-loving characters, the corporation said.
Attendees can expect live performances by the St George's Original Dancerettes, the Ex-Artillery Elite, Sui Generis Dance Team and PHC Majorettes & Drum Corps.
Bermuda’s oldest active Gombey troupe, Place’s New Generation Gombeys, will also perform at the event.
Quinell Francis, the Mayor of St George, said: “Traditions are very important to the town.
“Our Santa Comes To Town event is an essential part of creating memorable and positive experiences for our youngest community members.”
She added: “We are pleased to have the support of Conyers Imports, BGA and Robertson’s in helping to make this event happen and we cannot go without thanking our staff at the Corporation of St George for all they do to ensure the town is ready for all the festive events.”
Candy-Lee Foggo, the town manager, said vendors were invited to take part in the evening, which will run from 6pm to 10pm.
They include the Spot Restaurant, Bermuda Cupcake Company, Duch Pops, Ashley's Lemonade, the Food Hub, Toy Express and Paintz by Z.
“The event will be lively and fun with DJ Donny on the turntables and PowerGirl as MC,” Ms Foggo said.
With free entry and free parking, the corporation said that the event will serve as an “outstanding showcase for Bermuda’s heritage and the many performers eager to spotlight their talents”.
