Driving advisories issued for the MarketPlace Christmas parade
MarketPlace has released advisories to attendees for its annual Christmas Parade on Sunday, including the best places to see aerial displays.
The parade, which begins at 5pm and ends at about 7pm, will set out from the Par-la-Ville parking lot onto Church Street, followed by Court Street and Front Street, where it will finish at the Birdcage.
Number 5 and Number 1 car parks will be closed on starting at 6am.
All vehicles must be removed from the parade route by 2pm. Parking along the route will be prohibited after this time, and any remaining vehicles will be towed to Elliot Street.
Par-la-Ville Road between Front Street and Serpentine Road, Church Street between Par-la-Ville Road and Court Street, Court Street between Church Street and Front Street, and Front Street between Par-la-Ville Road and Spurling Hill will be closed at 2.30pm.
During the closures, King Street will operate as a two-way street from 2.30pm.
Bermudiana Road will remain open and emergency access will be maintained throughout the event.
Parking will be available at Bull’s Head Car Park and City Hall Car Park via Victoria Street and Wesley Street.
Roads will reopen once police have deemed in safe, likely between 8pm and 9pm.
Front Street between Par-la-Ville Road and Court Street will remain closed until about 9pm.
A spokesman for MarketPlace encouraged those looking forward to the drone and fireworks displays to move to Front Street once the parade finishes.
There will be a ten-minute hold at about 7.20pm between the parade and the Night Sky Celebration to allow watchers to take position.
People with pets who live close to White’s Island should secure them during the show.
Hamilton Harbour will be closed to all marine traffic around White’s Island during the drone and fireworks display.
Parade night dinner packages will be available for pre-order until Saturday evening, with collection on Sunday from the Hamilton MarketPlace or Supermart on Front Street.
