Safety issue forces flight back to Miami

This evening’s American Airlines flight from Miami will not be arriving in Bermuda until tomorrow (File photograph)

Safety concerns forced a Bermuda-bound flight to return to its city of origin this evening.

A passenger on board American Airlines flight 308 from Miami said that the aircraft took off for Bermuda at 6.47pm US time.

However, at 7.10pm, the pilot reported an issue in the cockpit and announced that it was not safe to continue to the island.

The flight landed back in Miami an hour after departure and hotels were arranged for passengers. They are now set to leave for Bermuda at 7.45am tomorrow.

The Royal Gazette reached out to Skyport for further information, but has not yet received a response.
